NHS Race and Health Observatory invite you to a discussion on compassionate leadership and race equality

“If it’s not inclusive it’s not compassionate.”

Join us on 4 October for a discussion on compassionate leadership, race equality within the NHS and its impact upon patient care.

Hosted by the NHS Race and Health Observatory, the session will centre on Professor Michael West’s new book ‘Compassionate Leadership’.

Professor West will be joined by Dr Habib Naqvi, Director of the NHS Race and Health Observatory, Lord Victor Adebowale, Chair NHS Confederation, Dr Nikki Kanani, Medical Director of Primary Care, NHS England & Improvement and Dame Marianne Griffiths, Chief Executive, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Despite health and social care workers being committed in their roles to supporting the health and wellbeing of patients, toxic workplace cultures can cause harm to fellow workforce colleagues and patients.

The panel of health leaders will discuss the principles of compassionate leadership and the role this plays in furthering race equality, digging deep into the chapter of the book, entitled “If it’s not inclusive it is not compassionate.”

The interactive session will include audience questions and feedback directed to the experts on hand.

There is no need to register, please join the webinar on the day.

Michael West CBE is Professor of Work and Organisational Psychology at Lancaster University.

When:  Monday 4 October, 12:00 – 1:00pm
